The Tide Isn’t That Strong - 2014 - Phillip J Rhoades
A song about taking control of your own life.

Lyrics:

She never knows where to go
She never knows where to go with her life
Drifts down city streets
Caught in the stream of other dreams
pulled by the current of other lives

She never knows where to go
She never knows where to go with her life
Drifts down city streets
Caught in the stream of other dreams
pulled by the current of other lives

Stretch out your arms
Stretch out your arms
Stretch out your arms and swim
The tide isn’t that strong

Stretch out your arms
Stretch out your arms
Stretch out your arms and swim
The tide isn’t that strong

She never knows where to go
She never knows where to go with her life
Drifts down city streets
Caught in the stream of other dreams
pulled by the current of other lives

Stretch out your arms
Stretch out your arms
Stretch out your arms and swim
The tide isn’t that strong

Stretch out your arms
Stretch out your arms
Stretch out your arms and swim
The tide isn’t that strong

She never knows where to go
She never knows where to go with her life
Drifts down city streets
Caught in the stream of other dreams
pulled by the current of other lives

Let Me Find Compassion (for The Mad) - 2014

This is about my struggle within. I will do all that I need to do, to protect myself, my family, and my friends, but I will also try to keep from losing myself to the madness of a stranger. No matter what I must do to stop him, I will not forget that he is ill. He is a human being, not a monster. He needs help as much as he needs to be stopped. I will work to find a balance between doing what I must to survive this and doing what I must to not lose my self in the process.

 Lyrics:
(the recording is rough and spontaneous)

Let me find compassion
Let me find a place in my heart to care
for the mad

Let me turn down my rage
Let me fill up with love

Let me find compassion
for the mad
Even when they strike at me

Don’t let anger and hate
lead me
Don’t let it take me from me

Let me find compassion
for the mad

Let me be true to who I am
