Beauty such as this
evokes the most carnal
of spirits
desires beastial
but also draws out
the stolid knight
the dreamer
and the poet
beauty like this
inspires
body and soul

Let my eyes rest on you
and never need see again
Let my dreams drift
into thoughts of your smile
and need not wake again
Let me capture your attention
For a tenth of a minute
and need not anything again

This was not heaven
because heaven forgets
and I will always recall

And this was not hell
for no torture of hell
could match the pain
of wanting you

No, this was a dream
a dream of you
And this dream
this dream was my life
