Summer Sunset Clinging

The leaves are shades
of amber, crimson, purple
like summer sunset clinging
to the tree tops
In these autumn days
struggling against
the coming winter cold
that whispers
to us all
upon the north wind

Whiskey

And I drown
In a pale amber lake
One hundred and fifty
Proof that I don't care
And I swim
In old memories
That don't matter
Aren't what they were
And I am undone
I am lost
I forget nothing
I remember more
I have always been
I cannot die
