winter

Summer Sunset Clinging

The leaves are shades
of amber, crimson, purple
like summer sunset clinging
to the tree tops
In these autumn days
struggling against
the coming winter cold
that whispers
to us all
upon the north wind

Winter

In slumber of winter
this world dreams
Crystalline
It shatters and scatters light
To dazzle those left awake
To share its dream
In moonlight unhindered
by clouds
Upon the frost it writes
Poetry
Upon the spirals of ice it sings
Of love though grown cold
Still beautiful
